Yet again Manchester United had a staggering start to their 2023/24 Premier League with regards to their midfielders, although they have won two of the first three game but scoring 4 goals in 3 games has proven to be a dent for Manchester United’s season remainder keeping them on 12th place on the stats table of over-all team goals. Flaws were evident in a scrappy 1-0 victory over Wolves on the opening weekend but were exposed more brutally in the 2-0 away loss to Tottenham. The win over Nottingham Forest at least propelled Manchester United back up to eight place but not before embarrassingly going 2-0 down in the opening five minutes.
Midfielder has been a long problem area for Manchester United and injuries and form issues means it’s still an issue for Erik Ten hag needs to find a solution for event at this early stage of this season especially with the exit of Brazilian Defending Midfielder Fred and injury to Mason Mount, also future of Donny Van De Beek is still not clear.
Erik’s biggest litmus test would be facing last season’s runners-up Arsenal on 3th September, who also had a mixed start in the opening 2023/24 season, winning 2 and playing a draw. Arsenal away clash will not only bring a test for the attacking unit but also for the defending unit, who has been wounded by the injury of their left-back Luke Shaw and poor defending against Nottingham Forest by conceding early goals. Manchester United will need to recreate the same 2011 atmosphere, where they thrashed Arsenal by 8-2.
Earlier, these two teams faced each other in the pre-season where Manchester United won by 2-0.
