The upcoming chapter of the MotoGP marks a great significant history for Indian sport lovers as this prestigious motorcycle racing event will make its debut in India. It will also mark the return of Buddha International Circuit (BIC), who has not seen any major motorsports event since Formula One withdrew from the international calendar.
This championship has been also officially renamed as Grand Prix of India or Indian Grand Prix. Now let us know about some details of this Grand Prix: The first edition of MotoGP Bharat will be held from 22-24 September, 2023 at the iconic Buddha International Circuit (BIC), Noida with Indian Oil being named as the title sponsor of the MotoGP while bike manufacturing brands like KTM India, Ducati India, Honda Racing India, Yamaha Motor India, Aprilia India, Michelin will be industry partners for this Indian Grand Prix. Dorna Sports is the organizer of FIM World Championship Grand Prix (also known as MotoGP), while Fairstreet sports have been licensed by Dorna Sports to organize races in India from 2023-2029. MotoGP is divided into four classes: MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE.
A total of 12 teams with 28 riders will participate in the upcoming MotoGP Bharat. The list of teams with riders are as follows:
Aprilia Racing Team (Maverick Viñales, Lorenzo Savadori and Aleix Espargaro), Crypto Data RNF MotoGP Team ( Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira), GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 (Augusto Fernandez, Pol Espargaro and Jonas Folger), Ducati Lenovo Team ( Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini), Gresini Racing MotoGP ( Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio), LCR Honda (Takumi Takahashi, Iker Lecuona, Takaaki Nakagmi and Alex Rins), Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP (Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli), Mooney VR46 racing Team (Lucas Marini and Marco Bezzecchi), Prima Pramac Racing (Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin), Red Bull KTM Factory Racing ( Dani Pedrosa, Brad Binder and Jack Miller), Repsol Honda Team (Joan Mir and Marc Marquez) and HRC Test Team (Stephan Bradl).
A total of three safety cars, including a BMW M5CS will be present at the venue during the races. The rest of the safety cars- BMW M2 (G87) and BMW M3 touring will land at the venue on 24 September.
Riders like six times champion Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda team, Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Team, Brad Binder and Jack Miller of Red Bull KTM team, Marco Bezzecchi of Mooney Team, Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing, are the biggest names from the racing world participating in this MotoGP Bharat 2023
