Lucknow or ‘City of Nawab’, which is the capital of Uttar Pradesh (earlier known as United Provinces till 1950), has always been a multicultural city that has flourished as a North Indian Culture and the artistic hub. Many of the IT companies are also presented in Gomti Nagar. Lucknow is also an emerging automobile hub with TATA Motors has set up their plants in Lucknow.
Lucknow has also given our country some prominent leaders like of Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, ex –PM of India, his political arena started with winning Lok Shabha seat from Lucknow and current Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who is Member of Parliament from Lucknow district, famous authors like Aslam Farrukhi, Mirza Hadi Ruswa, Attia Hosain, who was not only an author but also a journalist, actor and broadcasters, Salik Lucknawi , Mir Taqi Mir who have contributed in Indian poetry are in connection with Lucknow.
There are also many historical monuments which makes Lucknow famous and main attraction for tourist like Rumi Darwaza, Bara and Chota Imambara, Ambedkar Memorial Park, The Residency (Historical site featuring the ruins of a refuge for British citizens during the revolt of 1857), etc. Lucknow have several parks like Janeswar Mishra Park, Gautam Buddha Park, Gomti Riverfront Park, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Park Ambedkar Memorial Park, even a tourist while his tour to Lucknow can go for shopping in big malls like Phoenix Palassio, Wave Mall, Newly Constructed Lulu Mall, One Awadh Centre Mall, etc.
