With new rules and regulations much awaited Indian Premier League is set to begin from 31st March, with this people of Lucknow will also have a chance to witness IPL matches of their home side i.e., Lucknow Super Giants led by Indian cricketer KL Rahul.
Ekana Cricket Stadium will be the home ground for Lucknow Super Giants during IPL 16 and LSG will hope to make the most advantage of the home crowd and home environment. As per the IPL 2023 schedule, Lucknow will host 7 games which means this year cricket enthusiasts of Lucknow and other nearby cities will have a great chance to witness a streak of IPL 2023 matches which will be held in the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium of Lucknow.
Ekana Cricket Stadium will host first game of LSG on 1st April against Delhi Capital, Sunrisers Hyderabad (7 April), Punjab Kings (15 April), Gujarat Giants (22 April), Royal Challengers Bangalore (1 May), Chennai Super Kings (4 May) and Mumbai Indians (16 May).
Like last season, this year also 10 teams will be divided into 5 teams of two groups where Group A consists of Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, Group B consists of Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore and defending champions Gujarat Giants.
City of Nawab has already adopted the color of IPL, with welcoming of LSG players by locals while roadshow was held by Lucknow Super Giants on 26th March, which started from Rumi Gate and ended in Ambedkar Park. Ambedkar Park also became the first venue in India to host ‘Sports Drone Show’. Several Cultural Programme were also held to showcase the traditions and culture of Lucknow. LSG skipper KL Rahul asked for support in this edition of IPL, as they will be trying too to bring IPL Trophy home. He further added that “They will hope to set the stage on fire when they will play on 1st April’.
