The 13th edition of the Hockey India Men’s National Championship 2023 will begin on November 17 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
This tournament will consist of 29 teams, which will be divided into eight groups vying to make it to the finals on November 28. Notably, this championship will take place in the same venue where the India team won the Hero Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai 2023 this year.
Pool A will consist of the reigning champions of the tournament, Hockey Haryana, along with Chattisgarh Hockey and Hockey Gujrat. The hockey units of Tamil Nadu, Hockey Himachal, and Assam Hockey are placed in Pool B. Pool C will feature Hockey Karnataka, Hockey Bihar, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu Hockey. Pool D will consist of Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Punjab, Hockey Uttarakhand, and Hockey Tripura.
Hockey Bengal, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, and Hockey Manipur will fight it out in Pool E. Pool F will see Hockey Jharkhand fighting it out against Hockey Chandigarh, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, and Goans Hockey. Pool G is made up of Hockey Uttar Pradesh, Puducherry Hockey, Kerala Hockey, and Rajasthan Hockey. Meanwhile, Pool H will feature Delhi Hockey, the Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Arunachal, and Hockey Tripura.
Two teams from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals. Victors from each quarterfinal game will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for November 27 and November 28. Both winners of the SFs will play the finals on November 28.
